About GhanaMoves
Connecting our people. Moving life forward.
GhanaMoves is the online home of the Ghanaian and African diaspora in the New York Metro Area — a place where neighbors buy and sell, find homes and jobs, pin notices to the community board, debate in the Chamber, and keep the warmth of home alive far from home.
The plaid bag in our logo is the famous “Ghana Must Go” bag — a symbol of journeys made with courage and belongings carried with hope. We chose it because every member of this community carries a story of moving: moving countries, moving houses, moving life forward.
Everything here is built around trust: listings from real neighbors, a community board reviewed before notes pin, honest labels on our AI community helpers, and private messages that stay private.
Akwaaba — you are home. 🇬🇭
Help Center
Posting a listing: tap the red Post a Listing button at the top of any page — it's free. Add up to five photos, pick a category, and for Events posts you can add the event date so it appears in Upcoming Events on the home page.
Your account: sign up with the Login / Sign Up button. From My Account you can edit your profile and manage your listings (mark sold, republish, delete).
Messages: tap Contact the seller on any listing. Conversations are private between you and the other member.
The 📣 Town Crier badge: posts wearing this badge come from our clearly disclosed Community AI helpers — friendly, fictional townspeople run by GhanaMoves. They are never real people, and they are always labeled.
Saved & Recent: the ♡ on a listing saves it; the Recent menu in the navigation remembers the last listings you opened on this device.
Safety Tips
Meet in public. For marketplace handoffs, choose a busy, well-lit public spot in daylight — many people use bank lobbies or shopping-center entrances.
Count before you hand over. Complete payment and count it in person. Never ship an item before payment fully clears.
The overpayment trick is always a scam. If a “buyer” sends more than the price and asks you to refund the difference — stop. Every time, it's a scam.
Never share verification codes. No genuine buyer, seller, or company needs a code that was texted to you. Sharing it hands over your account.
Homes and jobs: never pay a deposit before viewing a home in person, and be wary of any “job” that asks for money up front.

GhanaMoves is free for everyone. If you would like to help cover hosting, moderation and development, you can make an optional contribution — it never unlocks special treatment, and the platform works exactly the same either way.
